Familia,

This week was full of craziness and miracles!!

Well last pday after we wrote we ate with the familia matos they killed one of their ducks and we ate it!! yum. We learned how to cook it and such, I was a little sad we missed the killing but not too much. ahah

We had a few extra hermanas in the house on Monday night for exchanges and it was awesome!

The whole week before my body was achey and then the cold hit monday but wow i know we had power from the temple or something, bc I have never gotten better so quick from a cold before. I felt a TON better every day. I didn’t think i was going to make it on our day of exchanges, haha but I did!

This week we taught francia about baptism and she asked who was going to baptise her and I guess she needs to get to know the people in the ward so she can chose whowill do it. She just loves the gospel of Jesus Christ. Yesterday we talked about the dia de reposo (Sabbath Day) and well she said she kept it evey day practically haha.

Versania is a contact that was truly meant to be. She told us about 5 times yesterday when we met with her. and she just feels that God really sent us to her, before she felt really depressed but its leaving little by little. The lord has really humbled her and prepared her to hear the gospel.

Also we have the familia matos who we ate duck with, we are working a lot with them to get everyone active and married, so they can get sealed in the temple parents children and grandparents.

Last week we met with Raquel she has an esposo that she need s to get marreid to, a couple of weeks ago she told us that he is atheist and also that he wasn’t super interested in getting divorced so they can get married but well this week in our cita she said he had read the whole little kid picture book of the ldm and started to real one. So we shared with him on Saturday with her and he asked us where can i get a copy of this ldm (libro de Mormon or Book of Mormon in English) well we brought him over one that day! He is so excited and told us he feels a spiritual difference in his life from reading the book. He heads back to work in the east side tomorrow but he’ll be back in 15 or so days. Hhe had a funny question when we were ending and well he has a litte longer hair but its curly and stuff and I told him don’t worry my cunado (brother in law) had longer hair before also, and i showed him a pic of greg the other day haha

Basically i have never seen so many miracle in my life than this transfer.

I love the mission! don’t ever send me home. [They sent her some paperwork this week that needed to be filled out for her return travel—so quickly it approaches!]

Have a great week!

[Her title is–Duck, Rain, sickness and miracles, she didn’t quite get to the rain part I think, but she loves it when it rains there since it’s always so warm. The picture is from a few weeks ago when Hurricane Erika was supposed to hit there, they enjoyed plenty of rain.]

Temple y Coco

Hello,

Well this week was super awesome, weird, fun, full of miracles a guagua rides..

so last monday we brought our neighbor who is a member out with us, she was great, and is named Hna Raisa. we got water melon from and investigator and ate it in the street while we walked to another cita (lesseon) as the juice dripped down our arms. the next cita was way cool and our other investigator told us she wanted to be baptised after having taught her one time!! well yup we invited her to get prepared.

on wednesday we got up super early and went to the temple!! oh how gorgeous it was! and it was raining too, it really couldnt have gotten any better than that!!! We even got to go in the solemn assembly room, the only one outside of the US and the temple presidency has to ask the first presidency if we could use it. SO COOL. Basically it was like christmas!

well some how i felt fine the next day for so litttle sleep and on friday we went to san juan to have intercambios! super fun and we learned a ton.

then we headed back early saturday morning and one of my investigators that was in the other area in azua was supposed to have her interview and she disappeared-her dad moved her to san juan with her little girls for 2 months we dont know why but i was super sad Kari left…

on saturday we taught some new people and well he gave us fresh coco juice and then we ate the coco YUMM bassically i love coco water.

I really dont know how i made it through the week but i did and it was a miracle along with a the rest.

Francia has a fecha and just doesnt understand why people baptise not in the way Jesus was baptized. she is so excited!!

i love you!!

mango tree

Awesome to have a mango tree outside our apartment!

This week we have be praying and trying to find. It has been quite the week with numbers a little abajo, but we have found some super awesome people and we are excited to follow up also.

To follow up on our miracle menos activo Ed, who went to church last week—we visited him on Saturday and wow there was a difference in his countenance even though he denied it, but there he was happier, more willing to participate, and well he seemed to have enjoyed it. Unfortunately he was not able to get to church his week partially his lack of desire( a little) and he was also sick but wow, he has really started to progress and he read the first 16 chapters of Nephi in one day.. so a little good and bad for the week with him but we have great hope that his future is bright!

Hna May and I are learning and well our animo is a little low but I just love this work, I just have been overwhelmed and discouraged by the trials i think but you know it all works out with extra prayer and striving for motivation.

We have interviews this week and I’m excited to receive a checkup, we can say—it makes me realize all the more i can do, feel good for what I am doing, and have animo to work harder!

I love you and enjoy your week!!

Yet again… we have news of another great week of the mission!‏

Buenas!

This week was good.  I feel like it was productive and i learned a lot.

Well yes, zone conference we had elder hugo martinez and his wife come to be our guest speakers.  Let me just tell you they are awesome.  Hermana Martinez has so much energy and is just darling and short.  She wow is full of great words she talked about places well we need a vision a goal and a plan really. she shared a ton of stories which were great analogies.  Like when we do things and sometimes we do the same thing over and over again and don’t look to what we can change so we get a different result.  She made waffles with insect repellant and didn’t know why the ‘oil’ wasn’t working, hah! bc it wasnt oil and she made almost her whole batch and trhew them away. haha

we talked about sharing the meat of our message-so cover the restoration in our first lesson briefly bc then we testify of what’s different and don’t waste as much time bc people will either feel of the truth or reject it. So yeah we might be rejected more often but you know its Gods time and we’ll sift through everyone faster and find the people prepared.  It was great to recharge and learn new things and receive inspiration.

ok well a few updates…

angel… we fasted and decided to drop him for a time bc he really needs to decide to do it or not. and really we are not sure how yet but we´re thinking and praying of how. bc we still want him to go to church.

gelman. we taught him la ley de castidad and well he has this lady who is in love with him but they haven’t even kissed and yeah it was a hilarious lesson and he said he´d keep it.

quince… yeah well she is a little sister of another investigator that we have and we contacted her Saturday night and invited her to church and well she went for all 3 hours and loved it!! so we set a cita with the whole family next week to share with them bc we think they might just be awesome.

Have a great week!!

Listen to promptings!

SALUDOS!!

Let´s be real life has been crazy. It’s still hot but we drink lots of water, I really am loving my new area. There are a lot of changes, the house has people who are more dramatic and girly which if you ask me God is helping me develop patience and charity.

We have this one investigator who is awesome, his name is angel and he is 18 and he has been taught for a while and he goes to church but he really wants to KNOW if the church and book of Mormon. When i first met him we talked about keep the commandments and when we keep them God is more willing to help us. He wasn’t really reading and was praying mas o menos, (some) so we asked him to pray and read and then we will really start putting into practice for sure the other commandments. The next cita (lesson) he said he had read and prayed every day. Wow. Then yesterday in church he made a comment about keeping la ley de cstidad (Chastity?) and the palabra de sabiduria. (word of Wisdom) How we really need to keep them and sacrifice the natural man. He really is starting to change! We are fasting this Sunday with him so that he can really get his answer. Who knows when God will answer but if he keeps putting in to practice these things i think it will be rather soon. So we are praying extra for him this week.

We also have this other girl named Dariana and she is 17 and has a little boy her cousin Angelo 16 and her bro Rony 19. They are awesome and Angelo is super shy and when we gave him his ldm LIbro de Mormon, he almost looked like he wasn’t really going to read it but the next cita (lesson) he had read one chapter oh how excited I was.

Another experience- so simple but such a great lesson to me this week was one day we were getting water in a colmado (market) and hna black was about to pay, i thought to contact the man and thought no, then thought again and decided to speak to him. It was such a simple and easy thought to put off but I decided to give in. Well it turns out he was a menos activo (less active member) named beto and here we don’t have as many menos activos or they’re just harder to find. But i just felt like was a good lesson to ALWAYS listen to promptings! I’m not sure what will happen with him or what, but when we are obedient God guides and leads us.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY. I love you mom. igaul a mis abuelas. (also to my Grandmas!) I am so grateful for all that you have taught me and all you have done!!
FELIZ DIA DE LAS MADRES

Have a wonderful week.

Saludos from the south…

Well let me just say ITS HOT OUT HERE, but it’s not unbearable. I just sweat ALL the time and I actually smell bad by the end of the day… sorry, hope that wasn’t too much detail. haha.

Wow let me just say it’s a whole lot different than Vicente Noble.  I love it but I also miss how tranquilo Vicente Noble was.  The rama here is pretty big and the members are awesome.  There is always more to be strengthened but siempre (still).  There are a few RM´s in the rama as leaders which is good bc it means they have more experience in the church.

Hna Black is my new companion, she is just awesome!  She is hilarious and just laughs all the time. She just loves these people and wants to help them change.  The language has been a difficulty for her but we are going to work hard to help her out with that.  I´m really excited to be her comp and just love it out here.

We have some investigators who are awesome a few jovenes (youth) and they have parents for menos activos.

This house I live with a hna leader and she is awesome Hna Mejia and hna jensen her comp they are so awesome and work really hard.   It’s always a new adjustment to new people in the house and the new weird things that work and don’t work but it’s just an adventure.

We live so close to everyone and so today we went to a mercado with our district. Of course the elders bought a ton of ties haha.  Kind of like a swap meet. I got a new skirt for 30 pesos- SCORE!  haha and it has pockets!

Let’s just say this week was a week of patience bc  I just wanted to meet all of my investigators and i cannot meet them all in one day but I’m starting to know a little bit better how to go everywhere.  It’s still a process but i love the new challenge.

Have  good week!!

Conferencia, Cats and Temple in Haiti!

Familia!!!!!!

Where do I even begin?! We had a pretty good week… we had an awesome lesson with menos activos and Wilkin is getting better from his chicken pox.

And then there was General Conference… yes and it was awesome! Sadly not everyone came that said they would because it was Semana Santa (Easter or “Holy week”) which equals drinking, going to the beach or the nearby river, chillin’ with the fam, and eating habichuelas con ducle. It’s like bean soup blended with milk, sugar and then raisins, sweet potato, canela and galletas on top. It’s pretty good.

But back to conference, wow! There is a lot of stuff on eternal families, the temple, enduring to the end, following Christ, oh man! Let’s just cover it all. May I just say what fun it is that two people spoke in Spanish again. I know it’s different for y’all but it’s easier to watch because otherwise I can’t look at the speakers because I can see the English and hear the Spanish haha.

I really enjoyed the talk by Elder Wilford Anderson! about learning to feel and move with the music because we already know the pasos[steps]. https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/04/the-music-of-the-gospel?lang=eng We need to cantar y practicar. Y siga practicando el evangelio… sorry all my notes are in Spanish… I also really enjoyed Elder Holland– I did however, miss the first few minutes because the power went out again. Haha! Oh the Sur life in the DR. 😉

Well I don’t need to give a summary of everyone’s talks but I really enjoyed all of the steps that they gave. There were many talks with different things to apply and it was nice that they put them all out for un in steps. Now we have the job to apply them all before next conference.

Let me just say I was so happy that they are building a temple in Haiti. I may not have mentioned this but we are about 3 hours from Haiti here, therefore there are a ton of Haitians and we keep finding more who are so open to the gospel, but the language is a barrier sometimes. Luckily we have a pretty willing a fiel member who goes out with us and translates. Oh how I love Haitians!

Oh! This morning I was cleaning up the extra room and I found a cat! …oh wait, not just one… but THREE CATS! One mama and two babies! Yes, we have pets by accident… haha. The mama was really protective of one and not the other. What a terrible mama cat. Don’t worry we got her out and the babies too. Hahaha Oh what an adventure…

Love you all!
